Dressler’s

What a welcome relief from the cold wind the night we went
into Dressler’s. We, as well as every other guest, were greeted
and seated by Jon, the co-owner. Walking in, the sheer beauty of the
restaurant and waterfall style fountain set a warm and peaceful mood
that was not broken throughout our dining experience.
We started with a Beef Tenderloin appetizer that was as
visually pleasing as tasty. Followed with our entrée’s “Mr.
Jim’s BBQ Pork Chop” and “Tuna Seared to Perfection”.
The presentation of each was as good or better than any food magazine
cover I have seen. It is beyond me how a pork chop so big could be cooked
so evenly and tender. Covered with a peach BBQ sauce that was complimentary
but not overpowering, accompanied with Pickle’s homemade cheddar
biscuit that was mouthwatering, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and pan
blackened green beans that were, well, just sooooo good, crisp and flavorful.
The tuna was sashimi grade tuna (which means it is extremely high quality,
fresh, and suitable for eating raw) prepared to order. I was not that
adventurous so I had mine cooked medium with some pink and that is exactly
how it came. The tuna was brushed with a ginger glaze served on top of
a warm Thai slaw over sesame rice cake. The Thai slaw consisted of red
bell pepper, red onion, lettuce, Napa cabbage and what I found out was
jicama. It tasted similar to artichoke heart I thought, but I asked Jon
who told me it was jicama. Not knowing what jicama was I asked a little
more. Jon was not sure so he asked the chef who within a few minutes,
the chef came from the kitchen with a printout from a horticulture web
site. Now THAT was impressive to me that the owner and the chef took
time to answer my silly inquiry. Bear in mind they had no idea what so
ever who I was or that I was writing a review. That was part of the charm
of this place, the friendly service that every customer was given by
every employee from the owner on down.
The dessert I had was Bananas Foster and phenomenal! To
elaborate any more would be an injustice. You have to try it yourself.
